Video Speed Controller is a Chrome extension that lets you control the playback speed of any HTML5 video on any website. We are committed to protecting your privacy.

Data Collection

We do not collect, store, or sell any personal data.

• No accounts or sign-ups required
• No analytics or tracking scripts
• No cookies
• No data sent to external servers
• No browsing history collected
• No video content is accessed — only the playbackRate property is modified

How It Works

• Speed control: Sets the playbackRate property on HTML5 video elements to change playback speed.
• Keyboard shortcuts: Listens for D/S/R key presses to adjust speed. Only active when not typing in a text field.
• Speed overlay: Briefly displays the current speed on-screen when changed via keyboard.

Permissions

• storage: Saves your preferred speed setting locally.
• activeTab: Sends speed change messages to the active tab.
• Content script (all URLs): Needed to access HTML5 video elements on any website and adjust their playback speed.

Advertising

Video Speed Controller displays non-personalized promotional links in the popup. These are static links — not targeted based on browsing history or personal data.

Third-Party Services

This extension does not use any third-party analytics, tracking, or data collection services.

Data Storage

The extension stores only your preferred speed setting locally using Chrome's storage API.

Children's Privacy

This extension does not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13.
